Cuman na mBunscol holds an important place in school life. Promoting games in primary school aged children has never been as important and through both hurling/camogie and football we aim to include as many players each year as possible. Indeed it is strange to have a school of our size fielding teams in both codes in both girls and boys competitions. We pride ourselves in providing a means for the girls to compete with the girls and the boys with the boys thus allowing each child the opportunity to part-take in their respective competitions. Additionally we encourage the visit each year from the GDA coach. Securing this facility can be a tough ask as they are thin on the ground however it is an important part of the school calendar when these visits materialise. Our aim each year is to compete well in our division and the possibility of silverware is always tempting! In the recent past we have had more success with football with the boys with the boys of 2017 winning their division (see pics below) while the girls of 2016 were the last to land the camogie cup. Finally, these competitions are fantastic forums for our young players to showcase their talents and many have been selected to represent the division on South football, hurling and camogie teams in the past. These make very proud memories for us all to enjoy!
